Many people can earn a steady income by writing articles. Educational qualifications are not important, but references of earlier work will help you get more work. Some of  the questions frequently asked by new writers are:

1. What should I write about?

Depends on the where your work will be published. If you are writing for your own blog or an ebook which you will sell, you should write on a topic on which you are an expert in. Other people should also be interested in the subject. For freelance assignments posted on freelance websites, job boards and other websites,  the topics are predefined.

2. Where can I find work?

Many websites hire freelance writers . Online freelance writing jobs . If you wish to write articles for magazines, you will have to contact the magazines editors and get the editorial guidelines.

3. How much will I be paid?

Payment depends on how well you write and where your articles are published. It is easy to get your articles published on a website, but rates can be low - less than $5 per article of  500 words, some times even lower.  Print magazines will pay much higher rates, but the rejection rate is high and you may have to rewrite the article.

4. When will I be paid?

Writers are usually paid after the article is accepted and published. For print publications this may take a few months.
